/R E P E A T -- Media advisory - Concordia to become the most advanced composter in Quebec/

    MONTREAL, Sept. 5 /CNW Telbec/ - On September 9, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. media
are invited to a visit of Concordia's new large-scale composting system. This
system, which will officially start functioning that day, will make Concordia
the only institution (public or private) in Quebec to collect organic waste to
this scale and then compost it on-site.
    Within 5 years, about 100 tonnes of organic waste will be composted
annually at Concordia. Every tonne of organic waste (fruit, vegetable, dairy,
meat and grain products) composted on site will save two tonnes of greenhouse
gas emissions. The compost produced will be used to maintain campus
    Members of Sustainable Concordia, along with the makers of this
innovative composting system and a representative from Recyc-Quebec will also
be present.
