/R E P E A T -- Media Advisory - 35th Anniversary of the Language Assistant Program/

    QUEBEC CITY, Aug. 26 /CNW/ - The Honourable Kelly Lamrock, Minister of
Education for New Brunswick and Chair of the Council of Ministers of
Education, Canada (CMEC), will mark the 35th anniversary of the Language
Assistant Program. The festivities will take place in Quebec City, during the
2008 Pan-Canadian Training Session for some 215 full-time Odyssey language
    The Official-Languages Programs, administered by CMEC, comprise four
programs - Accent, Odyssey, Explore, and Destination Clic. Since their
inception, more than 250,000 young Canadians, both francophone and anglophone,
have taken part in these programs, which have allowed them to enhance their
knowledge of one of Canada's two official languages.
