/R E P E A T -- Canadian Federation of Jewish Students Holds Media Briefing on Anti-Semitism and Intimidation of Jewish Students on University Campuses/

TORONTO, Feb. 25 /CNW/ - The Canadian Federation of Jewish Students
(CFJS) will hold a media briefing on Thursday, Feb. 26 to draw attention to
the alarming growth of bullying and intimidation of Jewish students who show
support for Israel on university campuses across Canada.

The briefing will be take place in Toronto at the Delta Chelsea Hotel, 33
Gerrard St. W., in the Carlyle Room on the 3rd floor, at 1 pm.

CFJS, the national voice of Jewish students in Canada representing over
30,000 students from 40 campuses across the country, urges all Canadians to be
concerned about a rising tide of hateful anti-Jewish rhetoric and actions by
anti-Israel activists. Such dangerous behaviour - including swarming,
confinement, verbal and physical abuse - poses threats not only to Jewish
students but also to the fabric of civil discourse that Canadians proudly
"With increasing frequency and vitriol, our campuses are being turned
into bastions of intolerance, bullying and intimidation directed by highly
organized anti-Israel activists against students attempting to stand up in
Israel's defence," said Noah Kochman, Chair of CFJS's Israel Affairs
Committee. "This has created a toxic and frightening atmosphere in which
Jewish students fear for their safety."
At Thursday's briefing, CFJS leaders from a variety of university
campuses will share their personal accounts of being victims of anti-Semitic
rhetoric and acts.
