Quebec families invited to discover snowmobiling during March vacation

MONTREAL, Feb. 23 /CNW Telbec/ - With the March school vacations fast
approaching, the Quebec Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (FCMQ) and the
International Snowmobile Manufacturers Association (ISMA) invite Quebec
families to get outdoors and discover snowmobiling. Boasting an incredible
33,000 kilometres of marked trails, Quebec is one of the world's premier
snowmobiling regions, and as more and more families choose to vacation closer
to home, now is the ideal time to get a taste of this winter activity.
"Snowmobiling is a fun and affordable activity that the whole family can
enjoy together. Already, more than 13% of Quebecers over the age 15 enjoy
snowmobiling - that's nearly a million people! The upcoming March vacation
period is an especially good time to get started. Snowmobiling in March is
really special because it's a little warmer, sunnier and the days are longer,"
says Raymond Lefebvre, spokesperson for the AVOSMOTONEIGES.ORG campaign.

    Getting Started -

"For urban and rural residents alike, snowmobiling is an accessible and
affordable activity. What many new snowmobilers may not realize is that
getting started with the activity requires virtually no prior experience or
equipment," says Mr. Lefebvre. "There are a variety of resources in place to
help families get started. New snowmobilers can also be take comfort in the
fact that the activity is governed by rules that help make it a safe activity
for the entire family. Key infrastructure includes the 208 snowmobile clubs
throughout Quebec, which offer a range of itineraries and special events."
In every region of Quebec, snowmobilers will be able to find equipment
and accommodation options tailored for families with children of all ages.
Snowmobiles can be rented by the hour, half or full day, the weekend and week.
It is also possible to rent any and all of the necessary equipment, including
helmets and boots. Touring packages for every taste and budget are available
in all regions of Quebec, and many hotels offer packages that give guests a
chance to be introduced to the joys of snowmobiling.
Another helpful resource for Quebec snowmobilers is, a Web site maintained by ISMA and the FCMQ that
provides comprehensive information to plan a snowmobile excursion. Information
on the site, which is updated for each new snowmobile season, includes rental
information, a regional guide, trail information, helpful contacts and more.
