QNX Wins 2007 OCRI Technology Partnership Award

OTTAWA, April 10 /CNW/ -- QNX Software Systems, the industry leader in
multi-core processing for embedded systems, today announced that its QNX and
Intel Multi-Core Expedite Program was awarded the prestigious "Technology
Partnership Award," presented annually by the Ottawa Centre for Research and
Innovation (OCRI). The annual OCRI Awards recognize excellence in research and
innovation of organizations and individuals in Ottawa.
In 2005, QNX won in the same category for its worldwide automotive
ecosystem and in 2004 won OCRI's highest honor, the "OCRI Award", for its
significant contributions to promoting Ottawa to the world as a technology
center of excellence.
This year, OCRI named the QNX and Intel Multi-Core Expedite Program as
the winner based on the program's contributions to the global software
community. The program enables companies to jumpstart their development of
advanced embedded devices using new multi-core chipsets and the latest in
multiprocessing software. As the two early leaders in multi-core technologies,
Intel and QNX are exclusive partners in a global program to provide complete
dual-core computing platforms to targeted early-adopter companies. The
successful program is now entering its second year with expanded plans for
more advanced hardware and broader geographic reach.
"The award is a testament to how QNX and Intel are working hand-in-hand
to help developers migrate to multi-core processors," said Dave Curley, vice
president of marketing at QNX Software Systems. "Software and hardware
partnerships between QNX and companies such as Intel are key to accelerating
the adoption of new technology solutions."
"This year's award recipients represent the best and brightest
individuals, organizations, and partners in Ottawa," said Jeffrey Dale, OCRI's
president and chief executive officer. "Each year the nomination pool
increases in quantity and quality, and it is our pleasure to recognize those
top-notch candidates who demonstrate the highest levels of vision and
