QNX Demonstrates Support for Intel's New Low Power Architecture

Demonstration showcases how QNX technology can bring an instant-on,
media-rich, and highly personalized user experience to low-power portable

HANNOVER, Germany, March 4 /CNW/ -- Today at the CeBIT conference, QNX
Software Systems will demonstrate how its innovative software products can
bring an instant-on, media-rich, and highly personalized user experience to
portable devices based on the new Intel Low Power Architecture. The
demonstration, presented by Intel and QNX's sister company Harman/Becker,
takes place in "Saal 3b" (Room 3b), from 9:00 am to 10:00 am.
To optimize the user experience of portable devices, the QNX(R)
Neutrino(R) operating system and QNX Aviage(R) middleware family focus on the
three i's: instantaneous, intuitive, and intelligent. Instantaneous through
lightning-fast boot times, guaranteed CPU budgets, and quick response to user
commands even when the device is busy performing many functions; intuitive
through support for multi-modal HMIs that can offer a blend of Adobe Flash, 3D
graphics, Java, touchscreens, and voice processing; and intelligent through
smart connectivity with virtually any media source or format, be it an Apple
iPod, USB stick, or Internet stream.
"Today's consumers want products that instantly and intelligently enhance
their digital lifestyles -- whether it's an infotainment device that can
immediately recognize the latest digital music formats or an in-car navigation
system that negotiates traffic jams in real time," said Linda Campbell,
director of strategic alliances at QNX Software Systems. "By combining its
core values of modularity, reliability, and performance with state-of-the-art
media players, HMI technologies, and digital media connectivity, QNX is
enabling a new generation of portable devices that can leverage the full
potential of Intel's innovative Low Power Architecture."
To accelerate the development of portable and embedded devices, QNX bases
its software products on a componentized architecture that allows new features
to be quickly plugged in or out. The end result: faster in-field upgrades,
easier customization, and better "future proofing." To further help
developers customize, debug, and optimize their portable applications, QNX has
established Foundry27, a community web portal that provides simple access to
the source code of QNX's major software products.
