    TORONTO, Sept. 5 /CNW/ -

Ontario will repair 5.1 kilometres of the QEW from Mississauga Road to
west of Erin Mills Parkway this fall. The construction project will repave all
of the driving lanes and shoulders on this section of the highway. Some of the
existing pavement will be recycled and used in future roadway construction
The $2.98-million construction contract was awarded to Gazzola Paving
Limited of Toronto. The project will see night time lane closures only, with
limited delays for day time commuters and is expected to be complete in
October, 2008.

"The McGuinty government is dedicated to keeping people and goods moving
in the Greater Toronto Area. This stretch of the Niagara-Toronto corridor
feeds the economy of southern Ontario," said Transportation Minister Jim
Bradley (http://www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/about/minister.htm).
"An investment in Ontario's infrastructure is an investment in our people
and our economy," said Mississauga South MPP Charles Sousa
(http://www.charlessousa.ca/). "This improvement to our highway will help keep
Mississauga moving."

    - 162,000 drivers travel on this section of the QEW every day.

    - Since 2003, the McGuinty government has committed $9.3-billion in
highways, roads and bridges and invested $6.2-billion in public
