LOS ANGELES, June 7 /CNW/ - As part of an overall international flight
schedule expansion to meet rising demand, Qantas Airways announced it will
again increase its current U.S. services to Australia effective March 2008.
Two new additional weekly non-stop flights between Los Angeles and Brisbane
will provide travelers with the enhanced convenience of daily service. The
Qantas schedule will also increase its services between Los Angeles and
Sydney, which will result in a total of 17 weekly services.
This latest schedule expansion brings the total number of non-stop
services between the U.S. and Australia to an all time high of 46 flights per
week, including the daily non-stop service Qantas now offers between Los
Angeles and Auckland, New Zealand.
"Qantas will have doubled its non-stop services between mainland USA and
Australia in less than five years and our continuing schedule increases in
this important market are a clear indication of the ongoing commitment we have
made to provide the most choice, comfort and convenience to our North American
travelers," said Wally R. Mariani, Qantas Airways senior executive vice
president, The Americas and Pacific. "Since inaugurating the San Francisco
gateway last year with three weekly flights, we've now increased it to five
per week as a direct result of our customer feedback. Similarly in New York,
customer preference was to provide daily frequency so we have announced more
new flights to provide daily service from New York effective August 14," he
Qantas continues to operate more non-stop flights between the United
States and Australia and New Zealand than any other airline and provides
excellent onward connections to more than 50 domestic Australian destinations
and four in New Zealand.
The newly enhanced Qantas schedule includes:
-- Increasing to daily service between Los Angeles and Brisbane
effective March 27, 2008;
-- Increasing to 17 weekly flights between Los Angeles and Sydney
effective March 30, 2008;
-- Increasing to daily service from New York to Sydney via Los Angeles
effective August 14, 2007;
-- 38 flights per week from Los Angeles to Australia and New Zealand;
-- Five weekly flights from San Francisco;
-- Three weekly flights from Honolulu; and
-- Three flights per week from Vancouver via San Francisco, operated
seasonally between June 13 and August 12, 2007 and December 16, 2007 and
January 27, 2008.
All Qantas Airways transpacific flights include complimentary meals, bar
service and award winning in-flight entertainment featuring personal seat-back
TV screens in all classes with over 400 choices on demand.
Qantas U.S. mainland departures to Australia all feature international
business class service, including the only award-winning Skybed business class
sleeper seat on these routes. Qantas is scheduled to be the first airline to
