Purolator supports Food Banks Canada with holiday shipping
TORONTO, Oct. 31 /CNW/ - Purolator today announced that it will donate up
to $50,000 to Food Banks Canada by making a 50 cent donation for every
non-account shipment made between Nov. 1 and Dec. 31, 2008 at Purolator Retail
Centres and STAPLES Business Depot and BUREAU EN GROS locations, as well as
over 570 authorized Purolator Shipping Agents.
For the second consecutive year, Purolator is kicking off the 2008
holiday season by encouraging businesses and consumers to get a head start on
their holiday shipping, and at the same time, help send an end to hunger.
"At Purolator, we're committed to hunger because it's an issue that
affects Canadians across the country, regardless of the season," said Brian
Meagher, Senior Vice President, Marketing, Sales and Customer Service. "It's
also an issue where we feel we can make a meaningful impact through our
ability to reach almost every destination point in Canada."
As part of its long-time commitment to help alleviate hunger in the
communities in which it operates, Purolator works closely with its employees,
customers and Food Banks Canada to move food to more people who need it.
In addition to the holiday shipping donation campaign, Purolator also
delivers on its commitment to hunger throughout the year with the
award-winning Purolator Tackle Hunger program and the annual Purolator Tackle
Hunger Week with its employees. Since 2003, Purolator has delivered more than
