Purdy's Chocolates - Press Release

VANCOUVER, Aug. 16 /CNW/ - Purdy's Chocolates has just been informed by
West Vancouver Police this afternoon, that our Park Royal chocolate shop was
one of four stores that had their pin pads compromised by criminals looking to
obtain confidential personal information from our customers.
We are mortified to learn of this breach, and want our customers to know
that we have taken immediate action to ensure the safety of all our customers'
transactions in our store.
Effective immediately, we will not accept any debit card purchases made
at our Park Royal store until all pin pads have been changed.
We are working closely with our supplier to have the new pin pads in
place today so that our customers will not be inconvenienced when shopping at
Purdy's. Police have informed us that credit card purchases are protected.
We apologize for any frustration or inconvenience this security measure
may cause, but we want to make sure that we have done everything possible to
protect our customers.
