Public Service Announcement - Train blockade in the Matapedia area forces VIA to cancel trains nos 16 and 17 (Chaleur)

    MONTREAL, March 2 /CNW Telbec/ - VIA Rail Canada has announced that due
to a track and road blockade by the Listuguj Mi'gmaq band near Matapedia,
Quebec, trains 16 and 17 operating between Montreal and Gaspé are cancelled in
both directions, today and tomorrow.
    This cancellation affects train no. 16 scheduled to leave Montreal at
6:15 pm today, March 2, and train no. 17, scheduled to leave Gaspé at 2:30 pm
tomorrow, March 3.
    No alternative mode of transportation can be provided to our travellers,
since this blockade affects both the tracks and the roads. VIA wishes to
apologize for any inconvenience this disruption may cause to its passengers.

call 1 888-VIA RAIL (842-7245).
    VIA will issue an update as new information becomes available.
