Public service announcement - Military parade through the streets of old Quebec - Change of itinerary

VALCARTIER GARRISON, QC, July 3 /CNW Telbec/ - The Canadian Forces and
their partners have decided to make a last minute change to the beginning of
the itinerary of the military parade that started this morning on the occasion
of the 400th anniversary of Quebec.
More than a simple plan of deception, this decision, which comes from
military command, was taken on the sole base of preventing confrontations with
groups of demonstrators. "Although we respect the rights of expression of
these groups, we want our parade to take place in harmony and in a festive
spirit. Today, we celebrate 400 years of military heritage in Quebec city,
heritage that we wish to mark with all the population", said Colonel Eric
Tremblay, Commander 5 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group.
Military authorities particularly want to thank the Société du 400e for
having offered the occasion for soldiers of marching in the streets of Quebec,
garrison city. They also want to thank the partners of the event, among which
military re-enactment experts and enthusiasts, Royal Canadian Mounted Police
officers and veterans.
