MONTREAL, Feb. 2 /CNW Telbec/ - Despite continuing storm conditions and
heavy snow accumulation over much of the Windsor-Quebec City corridor and the
Maritimes, almost all VIA passenger trains are operating on-time today and
space is available on all departures.
At this time, only trains to and from the Maritimes and the Gaspé
Peninsula are experiencing siginificant delays.
Yesterday, while the storm was at it its strongest, the majority of VIA
trains in Quebec and Ontario were completely sold out. VIA added additional
cars to many departures, using all available equipment to meet as much of the
increased demand as possible.
VIA operates some 60 trains per day throughout the Windsor-Québec City
Corridor. Despite the heavy snowfall warnings, VIA Rail wishes to advise
travellers that all trains are operating.
