The information sessions will give Aboriginal groups, the public, the
proponent and other interested parties an opportunity to hear further about
the federal review, the Panel's role and mandate, and how interested parties
can participate in the federal process. The Secretariat for the Panel will be
making presentations and will answer questions relating to the federal review
process. The Panel will not be present at these sessions.
The Panel will soon be determining whether there is sufficient
information to schedule public hearings. The Panel is therefore seeking
written input from Aboriginal groups, the proponent, the public and other
interested parties on the Hearing Procedures document which details how the
upcoming federal hearing will unfold.
In addition to general hearing sessions, the Panel will hold community
hearing sessions to allow members of the local communities to express their
views to the Panel in an informal setting. The Panel is also seeking input on
possible locations for community hearing sessions and any local practices that
should be considered in conducting these sessions.
Written comments on the Hearing Procedures must be submitted by June 19,
2009. All comments on the hearing procedures and locations will be made public
through the online registry. Forward your written comments to the attention of
the panel manager at
