Increasing investment and trade to create jobs in Ontario is the focus of
a 10-day visit to France, the United Kingdom and Belgium by Sandra Pupatello,
Ontario's Minister of Economic Development and Trade.
Between July 7 and 10, Pupatello
(http://www.ontariocanada.com/ontcan/en/about_bio_minister_en.jsp) will visit
Paris. The Minister will:
- Meet with French business leaders and government officials and
- Officially launch Ontario's newest International Marketing Centre.
The International Marketing Centre will promote Ontario to France's
business leaders as a leading destination for trade and investment. It will
also help Ontario businesses explore opportunities in France.
Between July 13 and 16, the Minister will be in the UK to:
- Attend the Farnborough International Airshow

Ontario pavilion and meet with several leading aerospace companies and
- Meet with business leaders and government officials in London.
Pupatello will also travel to Brussels, Belgium on July 17 to attend a
meeting between the Canada Europe Roundtable for Business and the European
Union Trade Commissioner Peter Mandelson where she will discuss business
relations between Ontario and the EU.
"There are numerous opportunities for increased trade and partnership
between Ontario firms and those in Europe," said Pupatello. "We're working to
help Ontario businesses make those connections to boost trade and investment,
and ultimately create jobs for Ontario families."
"Ontario also provides a great investment location for international
businesses looking to enter the North American market," said Pupatello. "We
offer a competitive business environment, a skilled and educated workforce,
and a climate supportive of innovation."
- More than 65 French companies already have operations in Ontario,
employing more than 14,000 people.
- The United Kingdom is Ontario's second largest export market.
- Twenty-two Ontario aerospace companies and five organizations from the
province are participating in the 2008 Farnborough International
