MONTREAL, Oct. 13 /CNW Telbec/ - Globe Electric Company, a leading
manufacturer of consumer lighting and electrical products, is excited that
Project Porchlight is kicking off another campaign to deliver 30,000 CFLS in
Medicine Hat, Alberta this fall. Globe fully supports the program and has been
working aggressively with the Porchlight team, supplying them with all the
CFLs distributed to date.
Project Porchlight, whose goal is to deliver one free compact fluorescent
light bulb (CFL) door-to-door to every household in Canada, is a campaign of
One Change, a not-for-profit organization based in Ottawa, Ontario. One Change
is striving to empower people to take action against climate change by making
it as easy as changing a light bulb.
"Changing a light bulb is one of the easiest and most effective actions
someone can take to combat climate change," said Edward Weinstein, President
and CEO of Globe. "If every household in Canada replaced just one incandescent
light bulb with a CFL, the reduction in pollution from power generation would
be staggering. We are extremely excited to be providing the information and
means necessary to make a real difference."
This is the second Project Porchlight launch in less than one month.
Edward Weinstein and Dave Walker, Director of Product Development at Globe,
were at Princess Anne Public School in Windsor, Ontario, in September to
celebrate the launch of Project Porchlight in Windsor. This event also allowed
them the opportunity to teach the students about CFLs and to showcase the
Globe Enersaver(R) line of energy-efficient products.
