Primus Canada names Andrew Day Chief Operating Officer

    TORONTO, June 17 /CNW/ - Primus Telecommunications Canada Inc., the
largest alternative communications carrier in Canada, announced today that
Andrew Day, who has held various senior level management positions within
Primus Canada for the past decade, has been promoted to Chief Operating
Officer. He replaces Ted Chislett who has left to pursue other interests.
    Mr. Day joined Primus in 1999 as Vice President, Marketing and Sales
where he was responsible for creating the marketing and sales team for the
Residential Services division. A year later, Mr. Day assumed the role of
Senior Vice President of Residential Services. He has spent the past nine
years in that position where he led the division's overall direction for all
products including long distance, local, internet, wireless and VoIP. In
addition, he managed the marketing, sales, and customer service departments.
    "Andy's experience managing the Residential Services division - the
largest unit of Primus Canada - has undoubtedly equipped him with the
leadership skills necessary to assume the significant role of Chief Operating

is a successful and seasoned executive and I have full confidence in his
ability to lead Primus Canada to even greater heights."
    Prior to joining Primus, Mr. Day has held a range of marketing and
finance positions with major international companies including AT&T, Gillette
and Xerox. Throughout his career, he has received a number of professional
accolades including the AT&T President's Club Award, the Gillette Outstanding
Service Award and the Xerox Award of Merit.
    Mr. Day has an Honours Bachelor of Commerce from McMaster University and
is a Certified Management Accountant. Mr. Day, 43, is a resident of Oakville,
Ontario, where he lives with his wife and three children.
