QUEBEC, May 20 /CNW Telbec/ - Pursuant to an order of the Government of
Québec issued today, Marcel Blanchet, Chief Electoral Officer, must hold an
election on Monday, June 22, 2009 in the electoral divisions of
Rivière-du-Loup and Marguerite-Bourgeoys. Here are some key dates of the
- Issue of the order : May 20, 2009
- Ban on election advertising : from May 21 to 27, 2009
- Nomination papers : from May 22 to June 6, 2009, at 2 p.m.
- Revision of the list of
electors : from June 1 to 9, 2009
- Special revision : from June 10 to 18, 2009, at 2 p.m.
- Advance polling : May 14 and 15, 2009
- Polling day : June 22, 2009

Electors will be able to obtain all of the information on the unfolding
of the election period by consulting the Website of the Chief Electoral
Officer at the following address: www.electionsquebec.qc.ca or by consulting
the Institution's Information Centre. Media representatives will be able to

On the Website, all of the information will be grouped in a special
section devoted to the by-elections. The information is presented under
headings that are meant to be both complete and easy to consult. This section
contains information that will be updated regularly during the election
On the Website, it will be possible to consult the election calendar and
press releases, find out the name of the returning officer and the address of
her office, and obtain certain data on the electoral division holding an
election, such as the number of electors and the electoral map. It is also on
the Website of the Chief Electoral Officer that interested electors will be
able to apply on-line to be an election officer in the current by-election.
As the election period unfolds, other information will be added. Aside
from the list of candidates, electors will be able to check if they are
correctly entered on the list of electors. Moreover, they will be able to
locate the revision offices and the polling stations assigned to them, by
simply entering at the appropriate spot the postal code or the building number
of the address of their domicile.
All of this information can also be obtained from the Information Centre
of the Chief Electoral Officer on weekdays from 8:0 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and on
weekends and holidays from 12 noon to 5:00 p.m. These extended hours will go
into effect starting today and will continue throughout the election period.
