Press conference NTDTV and Reporters Without Borders Canada following Eutelsat's suppression of the independent Chinese-language TV station to satisfy Beijing

OTTAWA, July 11 /CNW/ - NTDTV Canada (New Tang Dynasty Television Canada)
and Reporters Without Borders Canada will hold a press conference on Bastille
Day demanding that the French-based company EUTELSAT restore NTDTV's
uncensored broadcast to China
On June 16, 2008, NTDTV's broadcast to China via Eutelsat Communications'
W5 satellite was abruptly stopped. Eutelsat said it was due to "an anomaly to
part of its power generator subsystem." On July 10, 2008, Reporters Without
Borders released a recorded conversation between a Eutelsat representative and
an interlocutor the employee thought was a Chinese Propaganda Department
official exposing that Eutelsat's CEO Giuliano Berretta stopped NTDTV's
broadcast to curry favor with the Chinese regime, which has steadfastly sought
to shut out all media beyond its censorship control.
With the Beijing Olympics weeks away, Chinese people's need for
uncensored information has never been greater. On July 14, Bastille Day, while
the French commemorate the storming of the prison, a symbol of liberty and the
fight against oppression for all French citizens, Katherine Borlongan,
Executive Director of Reporters Without Borders Canada, and Joe Wang,
President of NTDTV Canada, call on the Canadian and French people, the
Canadian and French governments, as well as all freedom-loving people to urge
Eutelsat to resume NTDTV's broadcast to China right away.

The press conference will be held on :
