Pop Shoppe Announces New World in Site

TORONTO, Aug. 19 /CNW/ - In keeping with The Pop Shoppe's plan to
takeover the world, Pop Shoppe has launched a new website,
www.thepopshoppe.com, which celebrates the brand's uber playful,
larger-than-life personality.
Created by AmoebaCorp and OneMethod Inc. Digital + Design, with sound
design from Tattoo Sound + Music and movie animation from ON THE CHASE! Motion
Design, the site is built around the concept of an alternate world that lives
inside a Pop Shoppe bottle and features a bevy of highly inventive and
colourful cartoonbased characters and the shenanigans they get up to.
"This is a brand that truly enjoys no age-limit when it comes to the
Canadians that love it and I think that's because it's always been about
simple joy, childishness and exercising your playful spirit. So when it came
to creating a new site for the brand, we knew we wanted to deliver big on
personality and entertainment, and allow Pop Shoppe lovers of all ages to
enjoy the flavour of the brand in a new way", says Mikey Richardson, Partner
and Co-Creative Director at AmoebaCorp.
"This was a great project and a really fun collaboration", says Steve
Miller, Creative Director at OneMethod Inc. Digital + Design. "We came in
early and were able to input at the concept stage and we worked with a group
that was truly interested in building on each other's ideas and not at all
interested in keeping track of who's ideas they were. We were too busy
And there was no shortage of great ideas. "When it came to thinking about
what the world should look like, what the characters should be, look and sound
like, the way they should move and physically relate to each other, the
exchanges they should have, the level of thinking that went into this project
would make your head spin and very often, it did!" says Brian Alger, President
of The Pop Shoppe. "This is a brand that brings out the playful spirit in
everyone and one that's developed a bit of a cult following, so I'm not at all
surprised that it brought out some zealousness when it came to creating the
"We're designers but a few of us are also illustrators and animators and
all of us are fundamentally kids at heart. To be able to come into the office
every day and have a serious discussion about who should win a staring contest
between a Sasquatch and a Yeti is pretty much the definition of a dream
project"; says Mikey Richardson "You'll have to check out the site to find out
the answer to that by the way".
