Police ethics now more easily accessible - New web site

QUEBEC, Nov. 27 /CNW Telbec/ - The Police ethics committee and the Police
Ethics Commissioner, two independent institutions, have reviewed their common
web site in order to:

    -   Allow users to exercise their rights online;
    - Make it easier to understand the police ethics system, as well as the
scope of the duties and standards of conduct relating to police
officers, special constables and highway controllers.

    Online services

From now on, the new site will provide forms to be filled out online, a
safe, faster way to exercise your rights.

    More complete, streamlined information

The new organization of information facilitates research and
understanding. Among other things, the user will find on this site an
interactive scheme for the operation of the ethics system. Its contents are as
complete as possible and designed to meet expectations even better than

Current affairs and recent developments in matters of police ethics

The recent decisions of the Committee can be found on the home page, and
the calendar of hearings is now more user-friendly.

    Contents centered on prevention

Aware of the importance of better understanding the scope of ethical
duties and standards of conduct, and especially to prevent derogatory acts
from occurring again, the Commissioner has drawn up a Code appliqué based on
jurisprudential excerpts, which sets out the general principles and
applications of each of the sections of the Code of ethics of Québec police
