Pioneering's Safe-T-element(R) Recognized for Funding by the Department of Homeland Security

North Carolina State University, the University of Delaware and the Tampa
Housing Authority receive funding to enhance their Safe-T-element cooking
    system Fire Prevention Programs.

MISSISSAUGA, ON, Aug. 12 /CNW/ - Pioneering Technology Corp. of
Mississauga, Ontario (TSX-V: PTE), ("Pioneering") was advised today that North
Carolina State University, the University of Delaware and the Tampa Housing
Authority have been awarded funding from the first installment of the U.S.
Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA)
Fire Prevention and Safety (FP&S) grant program for the purchase and
instalation of Pioneering Technology's Safe-T-element cooking technology.
Collectively the three institutions received funding of approximately $388,000
for their programs.
All three of these institutions have previously purchased and installed
the technology in their residential housing facilities. Based on the success
of their installation programs they applied for additional funding as part of
the FP&S program to bring a higher level of safety and energy efficiency to
their tenants.
Pioneering Technology CEO, Kevin Callahan said, "Our success in helping
to prevent the number one cause of household fire is now starting to take
hold. DHS has seen institutions apply for funding for this product over the
past couple of years, a few of whom have been successful. DHS now clearly
understands how the Safe-T-element works and that it is a product that does
exactly what the program is supposed to do - prevent cooking fires, protect
properties, save lives and keep firefighters out of harm's way."
The Fire Prevention and Safety Grants (FP&S) are part of the Assistance
to Firefighters Grants (AFG) and are under the purview of the Grant Programs
Directorate of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). FP&S grants
support projects that enhance the safety of the public and firefighters from
fire and related hazards. The primary goal is to target high-risk populations
and mitigate high incidences of death and injury. The grants under FP&S are
awarded on a competitive basis to public and private not for profit
institutions and are administered by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS)
in cooperation with the U.S. Fire Administration (USFA).
