BURNABY, BC, Jan. 21 /CNW/ - Photon Control Inc. ("Photon") (TSX-V: PHO)
is announcing that its R&D division has completed development of a new series
of fiber optic temperature sensors which are capable of accurate temperature
measurement up to 450(degrees)C.
"We see the need for expansion of our temperature sensing capabilities
from our major customers in semiconductor capital equipment manufacturing,"
says Ivan Melnyk, Photon's Chief Operating Officer. "Recently Photon was
contracted to provide fiber optic positioning systems for two applications
with process temperature exceeding 400(degrees)C. This is not a surprise
because the leaders in the semicon sector are those who offer technology with
extreme capabilities to produce more competitive and advanced chips."
"Photon's fiber optic temperature sensing technology is now many
generations ahead of our competitors," comments Daryl James, Product
Development Manager. "By achieving 450(degrees)C with high accuracy and
repeatability, there is no longer a need to switch to more costly and less
accurate infrared pyrometric sensors for many semiconductor applications."
Photon currently has more than 3,000 temperature sensing systems installed in
semiconductor processing equipment around the world.
Photon's advanced sensing solutions will be demonstrated for the first
time at the Pittcon exhibition and conference in New Orleans in March 2008, a
major event in analytical instrumentation worldwide.
