Photo & Interview Opportunity - The Scott Mission serves special Easter meal for Toronto's needy and homeless

    TORONTO, March 19 /CNW/ - Much effort goes into Easter preparations at
The Scott Mission. Our chefs spend hours cooking the main course, volunteers
are booked well in advance and extra staff are called to help in the kitchen.
All to make Easter a special day for the more than 300 men and women who will
share Easter with us.
    "Some people just want the company of sitting at a table with others on a
special occasion," says Executive Director David Smith. "Whether it's
loneliness, poverty, hunger or something else that drives them to The Scott
Mission, we are here."
    On Sunday, March 23, The Scott Mission will serve a special Easter meal
at two sittings. Media are invited to attend the first sitting at 10:30 a.m.

           broccoli, baby roasted potatoes and tropical jello.)

    The Scott Mission has been responding to the needs of the poor, homeless,
abandoned and vulnerable of all ages since 1941 by offering practical,
emotional and spiritual support for thousands of people each year. Through its
efforts, the Mission, a Christian non-denominational organization based in
downtown Toronto, offers many programs to support the poor and homeless in our
    The Scott Mission offers: hot meals (served twice a day, seven days a
week), a low-cost daycare, a summer camp and after-school program for at-risk
children and youth, free good-quality clothing, bag lunches, groceries, shower
and laundry facilities for the homeless, a 45-bed shelter, foot clinic and
out-of-town retreats for shut-ins.
