Photo & Interview Opportunity - A special Easter meal at The Scott Mission means hundreds of Toronto's homeless will share in the joy of this special day

    TORONTO, April 8 /CNW/ - On Easter Sunday, a special meal will be served
to over 300 of Toronto's homeless and needy.
    "The Scott Mission has been serving Easter meals for 68 years. Special
occasions, such as Easter, are often a painful time for many of our clients.
While most of us are spending this time with our families, our men and women
find themselves alone with nowhere to go and no one to share the day with. The
Mission is honoured to be the family that many of these people don't have. And
we are blessed to be able to prepare a special meal for them," said David
Smith, Executive Director, The Scott Mission.

    Who:      David Smith, Executive Director, along with clients and
              volunteers serving the meal, will be available for interviews.

    What:     Easter Meal at The Scott Mission for Toronto's needy and

    Menu:     Green pea soup, coleslaw, roasted lamb, roasted baby potatoes,
              mixed vegetables and tropical jello.

    When:     Sunday, April 12 at 10:30 (first sitting) and 11:30 (second
              sitting) a.m.

    Where:    The Scott Mission, 502 Spadina Avenue, Toronto
              (northwest corner of College and Spadina)

    The Scott Mission has been responding to the needs of the poor, homeless,
abandoned and vulnerable of all ages since 1941 by offering practical,
emotional and spiritual support for thousands of people each year. Through its
efforts, the Mission, a Christian non-denominational organization based in
downtown Toronto, offers many programs to support the poor and homeless in our
    The Scott Mission offers: hot meals (served twice a day, seven days a
week); a low-cost childcare centre; a summer camp and after-school program for
children and youth from low-income families; free good-quality clothing; bag
lunches; groceries; shower and laundry facilities for the homeless; a 45-bed
shelter; Christmas help and out-of-town retreats for shut-ins.
