MONTREAL, Feb. 14 /CNW Telbec/ - Dr. Philippe Couillard, P.C., M.D.,
will provide strategic business advice to SECOR's Canadian and
international clients on the health and life science sectors. Dr.
Couillard joins the SECOR team as of today, and will remain a partner
in Persistence Capital Partners as well as retaining his seats on the
boards of Amorfix Life Sciences and Thallion Pharmaceuticals.

Dr. Couillard served as Quebec's Minister of Health and Social Services,
a post he held from 2003 to 2008. Previously, he practiced as a
neurosurgeon at St. Luc Hospital, where he headed the Department of
Neurosurgery from 1989 to 1992. He then co-founded the Department of
Neurosurgery in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, where he worked from 1992 to
1996. On his return to Canada, he became a professor in the Faculty of
Medicine at Université de Sherbrooke, where he taught from 1996 to
2003. He was also the director and chief surgeon for the Department of
Surgery at the CHUS (Centre hospitalier de l'Université de Sherbrooke)
from 2000 to 2003. He graduated from Université de Montreal's Faculty
of Medicine in 1979, and received his Royal College of Physicians and
Surgeons designation in neurosurgery in 1985.
Dr. Couillard teaches health care governance at McGill University and
sits on the boards of two biotech companies that are listed on the
Toronto Stock Exchange. As a member of the Queen's Privy Council for
Canada, he serves on Canada's Security Intelligence Review Committee.
