TORONTO, Oct. 9 /CNW/ - Peter Gdyczynski, B.Sc.Phm., RPh. was elected as
the 2007/2008 President of the Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP). "I am
pleased to congratulate Peter on behalf of the College's Council," said Past
President, Gerry Cook. "Peter brings to the role, a history of active
participation in advancing the pharmacy profession. This experience will
contribute to the role he will play in leading Council's focus and policy work
this coming year." Gerry added.
Mr. Gdyczynski is currently a Shopper's Drug Mart Associate in Brantford,
Ontario. Peter has supported the field of pharmacy in Ontario by serving on
several College committees including The Working Group on Certification of
Pharmacy Technicians, Discipline, Accreditation, Structured Practical Training
and Communications.
Over the past several years, Peter has contributed to the future of the
profession acting as OCP Preceptor for pharmacy students and interns, and as a
regular presenter for various pharmacy, health and wellness programs. Peter
also has served on hospital finance committees for the Brant Community Health
Care System (Brantford General and Willett Hospitals, Paris). Additionally,
Peter is a member of the Ontario Pharmacists Association, Canadian Pharmacists

"Consistent with government's recent announcement about funding
medication reviews for patients through the MedsCheck program, pharmacists are
being encouraged to take on a more active role in patient focused care." says
OCP Registrar, Deanna Williams. Under Peter's leadership, Council will focus
on initiatives that support this trend; so that pharmacists can fully utilize
their skills and competencies, and better serve their patients."

Established in 1871, The Ontario College of Pharmacists licenses and
regulates all Ontario pharmacists and community pharmacies. Pharmacy, as a
self-regulated profession, is one of over 20 health professions in Ontario
regulated by its College, which was established to oversee the profession
under the Regulated Health Professions Act. The College's primary role is to
set and enforce the operational standards for community pharmacies, to ensure
pharmacists continue to provide Ontarians with high quality, ethical
pharmaceutical care.
