Palestinian Territories - Another pro-Hamas newspaper correspondent arrested

    MONTREAL, Feb. 22 /CNW Telbec/ - Khalil Mabrouk, 31, the Palestine
newspaper's correspondent in the West Bank city of Nablus was arrested on 20
February by security forces that support President Mahmoud Abbas. A daily
produced in Gaza, Palestine tends to supports the Islamist movement Hamas.
Another of its correspondents, Khaled Maali, who is based in Salfit in the
north of the West Bank, was released on 16 February after being held for two
days without being charged. These arrests, regarded as arbitrary by
journalists in the Palestinian Territories, are evidence of the continuing
tension between Fatah and Hamas.
