TORONTO, Aug. 8 /CNW/ - Mr. Dale F. Sparks, Chief Technology Officer of
Star Navigation Systems Group Ltd. ("Star"), developer of Flight Safety and
Fleet Monitoring Systems, is pleased to announce that the installation of Star
Navigations' In-flight Safety Monitoring System (ISMS(TM)), Flight Tracking
and Satphone communications system on a Pakistan International Airlines
("PIA") Airbus A-310 aircraft is complete and Star management has determined
it to be a great success.
Installation and certification testing has confirmed the functionality of
the Satphone communications system, the Flight Tracking system and that the
ISMS(TM) is receiving data from its full complement of 8 data bus channels.
This is a milestone and a great accomplishment for the company.
Mr. Sparks said, "Star has experienced significant strategic changes
since January 2007 and we are beginning to see the positive impact of our
decisions. We are very pleased with the results of this installation and are
looking forward to the trial period with PIA. The evaluation will not only
help our customer determine the most suitable configuration of the ISMS(TM)
for them, but it will also be an excellent showcase for our product. I
congratulate our team."
Star is now preparing for the upcoming PIA trial and is expected to
formally file for the Operational STC in the next several days. Once the
system is activated, the evaluation will commence and it will provide PIA with
a way to assess the system's capabilities and performance.
In addition, Star's ISMS(TM) system will provide the Engineering and
Maintenance departments with real time fault forwarding that will allow the
operator to schedule parts and personnel before the aircraft lands. This saves
valuable Aircraft On Ground (AOG) time to help reduce flight delays and/or
cancellations. It will also provide Flight Operations and Flight Safety with
insights concerning FOQA (Flight Operations Quality Assurance) monitoring,
which helps facilitate cost savings.
Mr. Kapadia, CEO, stated "The result of this (PIA) installation is a good
indicator of our commitment, our capability and our potential. Moving forward,
I'm very confident in our success strategy for all of our projects."
In short Star Navigation is providing PIA with the best commercially
available Asset/Flight Management solution.
A decision with respect to the purchase of ISMS(TM) units will be made by
PIA after the completion of an analysis of the results from the trial
