Over 40% of Calgarians say there's no difference between Mobilicity and Big Three networks; almost 50% like new carrier better

Mobilicity Network Challenge coming to cities across Canada as new carrier demonstrates the quality of its unlimited 3.5G network

TORONTO, May 13 /CNW/ - Mobilicity may be new in Calgary, but its unlimited network is as good if not better than the Big Three networks, according to almost 1,000 Calgarians who took the Mobilicity Network Challenge over the last two weeks.

In fact, 41 percent of participants in the western city could not tell a difference between the Mobilicity network and a Big Three carrier network. And, of those who said they could tell a difference, 78 percent preferred the call made on the Mobilicity device.

"The fact that over 40 percent of Calgarians polled couldn't tell a difference between the Mobilicity network and a Big Three network, and so many others liked us better, speaks volumes about our network quality and reliability," said President and CEO Dave Dobbin. "The biggest difference for our customers isn't network quality, it's that Mobilicity is a better deal that saves customers loads of money."

A modern-day twist on the iconic soft-drink challenge, Mobilicity designed the interactive digital touch-screen and handset kiosk to let consumers test the quality of its unlimited network.

The Mobilicity Network Challenge takes participants through a "blind taste test" where they make two identical calls using two identical BlackBerry Bold smartphones (one on the Mobilicity network; one on a Big Three network) to compare the call quality for themselves.

Participants were also given the opportunity to provide feedback about their experience. Comments included:

  • "Love the network quality!"     Female, 23
  • "This Mobilicity phone sounds 10 times better than my existing carrier… looking forward to switching companies now."     Male, 31
  • "I just got a Mobilicity phone and I love it, the price is right."   Female, 28
