Over 2.7 million Canadians have already received passports through the new Simplified Renewal Application Process

GATINEAU, QC, Aug. 17 /CNW Telbec/ - In order to provide secure, modern,
user-friendly services to Canadians, Passport Canada launched its Simplified
Renewal Application Process two years ago. Since its launch, more than 2.7
million Canadians have applied for and received a passport through this
streamlined process.
Under this program, passport applicants who meet certain criteria can use
a shorter application form and are not required to submit documentary evidence
of citizenship, supporting identification or a guarantor declaration. The
Simplified Renewal Application Process is a great example of Passport Canada's
efforts to provide high quality service to Canadians, while maintaining the
security and integrity of the Canadian passport.
To mark the second anniversary of the launch of the Simplified Renewal
Application Process, Passport Canada would like to encourage eligible
Canadians to take advantage of this program and reduce the time spent
preparing their passport applications.
Interactive passport application forms, as well as a list of all
eligibility requirements, are available at www.passportcanada.gc.ca.
