TORONTO, May 4 /CNW/ - With the popularity of beach volleyball on the
rise, the Ontario Volleyball Association (OVA) is thrilled to announce
that RBC Royal Bank of Canada will play a major role in supporting the
largest beach volleyball tour in Canada as the premier title sponsor of
the 2011 OVA Beach Tour season.
"The Tour has consistently experienced double digit growth each of the
past five years, including 16% growth from 2009 to 2010 alone" says
Kristine Drakich, President of the OVA. "We expect that trend to
continue, and we're excited to partner in that growth with a company so
well known for its long-term dedication and commitment to amateur
Christian Redmann, an RBC Olympian who hopes to medal for Canada at the
London 2012 Olympic Games is thrilled that his company is involved in
this year's tour. "Being an OVA member and club coach, and having
played in the Tour's Adult Elite division, I've seen incredible growth
in the popularity of beach volleyball, but also the need for active
corporate support to keep the momentum going," said Redmann. "And given
RBC's commitment to amateur sport and a Blue Water environment, I can't
think of a better fit."
As the largest beach volleyball tour in Canada, the OVA Beach Tour
showcases the best male and female players in Canada across nine (9)
divisional categories, including the Adult Elite division. In 2011, the
OVA will host 22 events over 13 weekends from May to August.
Drakich and Redmann encourage everyone to check out the OVA Beach Tour
schedule online and come out to support the local Ontario volleyball
talent, as well as take advantage of RBC promotions on the beach!
