TORONTO, Oct. 17 /CNW/ - Tomorrow, Statistics Canada is set to release
its annual report on tuition fees across the country. Ontario representatives
of the Canadian Federation of Students will be available to comment on the
financial situation facing college and university students in Ontario,
relative to other provinces.
"After the government of Ontario cancelled the popular freeze in 2006,
tuition fees have been allowed to increase between 4.5 and 8% a year," said
Jen Hassum, Chairperson of the Canadian Federation of Students-Ontario. "With
many other provinces in Canada holding the line on tuition fees, we expect
that tomorrow's report will reveal that Ontario is once again headed for the
top of the pack."
