Ontario Liberal Platform Already Attracting Support

"Forward.Together" Endorsed By Educators, Doctors, Business Leaders, Environmental Groups

TORONTO, Sept. 5, 2011 /CNW/ - A broad cross-section of Ontarians are lining up behind the Ontario Liberal platform — "Forward. Together" — because they want the province to stay on track in health care, education, the environment and the new economy.

"These are serious times and what Ontario needs is a serious plan. We're looking forward to sharing our plan for creating good jobs in the new economy," said Premier Dalton McGuinty.

Some of those supporting the Ontario Liberal platform include:

  • Warren Jestin, Chief Economist at Scotiabank, who said it's a "well-articulated budget plan ... that recognizes the risks to the global economic outlook."

  • Andrew Wilkes, Co-Chair, National Angel Capital Organization, who said: "it is a great time to grow businesses in Ontario and create long-term jobs for the generations to come."

  • Sheldon Levy, President of Ryerson University, who said measures to help students are "the most progressive change in tuition policy I have seen in 40 years."

  • Mike Garland, CEO of Pattern Energy Group, who said: "Overall, we and our partners are expected to invest over $1 billion in Ontario every year for the next several years provided the permitting and energy policies allow us to progress as planned."

  • Dr. Avis Glaze, of Edu-quest International Inc. and former Chief Student Achievement Officer of Ontario who said: "public education in Ontario has become the envy of the world."

  • Janet Kasperski , Chief Executive Officer of the Ontario College of Family Physicians, who said plans to bring back house calls is " good news for our frail, elderly patients."

The NDP are making three times as many promises as the Ontario Liberal platform, and the PCs are making an incredible five times as many — and neither of them had their platform independently validated.

Already, over 40 different Ontario leaders have endorsed the Ontario Liberal platform because it provides the strong, steady leadership the province needs to continue on track and moving forward.
