Ontario Human Rights Commission - Media Advisory

TORONTO, June 13 /CNW/ - This June 15th, marks the 45th anniversary of
Ontario's Human Rights Code, which came into effect in 1962. Equally historic,
was the appointment of Dr. Daniel G. Hill, as the first Director of the Human
Rights Commission.
To recognize the life, work and legacy of Dr. Hill, the Archives of
Ontario, in collaboration with his son, Lawrence Hill, has produced an online
exhibit that serves as a tribute to Dr. Hill's struggles and successes. Miriam
McTiernan, Archivist of Ontario, and Chief Commissioner of the Ontario Human
Rights Commission, Barbara Hall, are hosting this special event marking the
launch of the many records featuring Dr. Hill's personal life and professional
work, spanning over a century.
