Ontario Energy Savings L.P. gives to Earth Rangers

Earth Rangers receives $30,000 worth of energy and participation in the
Green Energy Option program from Ontario Energy Savings L.P.

    TORONTO, Jan. 6 /CNW/ - Earth Rangers, a non-profit organization that
empowers kids to improve the health of the planet, will be getting up to
$30,000 worth of energy donated as part of its new partnership with Ontario
Energy Savings L.P. (OES) and its participation in OES's Green Energy Option
(GEO) program.
"This generous donation from Ontario Energy Savings means a lot to us,"
said Peter Kendall, executive director of Earth Rangers. "We inspire kids to
take action to protect the environment so it is important that we walk our
talk. Although the Earth Rangers Centre uses 79 per cent less energy than a
typical building, we are still consuming energy and this still does have an
impact on the environment," continued Kendall. "With OES' support, and our
participation in their GEO program, we are now able to do something about this
OES provides individuals and organizations with the ability to offset
between 20 and 100 per cent of the harmful greenhouse gas emissions produced
by their consumption of natural gas through its GEOgas program. Through its
GEOpower program, consumers can ensure that an equivalent of between 20 and
100 per cent of the electricity they consume is generated from renewable
"green" sources, such as biomass, hydro and wind, and injected into the
Ontario electricity grid.
"We're very pleased to be supporting Earth Rangers," said Ken Hartwick,
president and CEO of Ontario Energy Savings L.P. "As an organization that
believes in the importance of sustainability," continued Hartwick, "we value
and respect the work that Earth Rangers does and we're very happy to play a
part in helping to support the increasing environmental awareness of today's
In addition to offsetting potentially negative environmental impacts
associated with its own energy consumption, Earth Rangers' participation in
OES' GEO program supports the purchase of carbon credits and renewable energy
credits, which are at the heart of OES's GEO program. By supporting these
purchases, Earth Rangers is also helping to ensure that large scale carbon
offset and renewable energy production projects, like those related to these
credits, continue to be undertaken.
