Ontario Conservatives hold secret, closed-door debates

    What are they hiding?

TORONTO, May 14 /CNW/ -The highly restrictive rules for attending the
leadership debates of the Ontario Progressive Conservative Party have been
released, and they send a clear message: "we don't want the public to know
what we're saying."
In fact, not even long-time, card holding Conservatives will be allowed
to freely attend.
Rules released by the Party state:
"General tickets are available to Party members through the Party only
upon request. The Leadership Election Committee will allocate tickets among
requesters by random draw. Successful applicants will be notified and must
confirm their attendance within 24 hours. Confirmed tickets must be collected
and paid for at the door prior to the start of the debate. Tickets not
confirmed are not guaranteed."
Further, questions must be submitted online ahead of time.
"It looks like the Conservatives are trying to hide Randy Hillier's
momentum, and the puppet strings attached to Tim Hudak," said George
Smitherman, MPP.
