MISSISSAUGA, ON, Feb. 3 /CNW/ - Customers of Ontario's lowest-priced online energy retailer will automatically receive a 10% rebate applied to their electricity bills for the next five years. The rebate is part of The Ministry of Energy's Ontario Clean Energy Benefit (OCEB) and is designed to move Ontario's power industry towards cleaner sources of energy.

According to the Ontario Ministry of Energy, the reduced cost for each customer is estimated to be at least $150 per year and at least $750 in savings over five years.

The OCEB discount took effect January 1st 2011, and will appear on eligible customers' next electricity bill.

Because renewable forms of energy are more expensive to generate, the OCEB rebate is designed to offset some of the cost increase for consumers. Ontario's rising energy costs are directly related to the increased demand for cleaner generation sources. For more information on the OCEB rebate and eligibility, please visit the Ministry of Energy's website, or call the Ministry of Energy toll-free at 1-888-668-4636.
