On this date in history....

    TORONTO, Sept. 26 /CNW/ -

September 26, 1957: The musical West Side Story opens at the Winter
Garden Theater in New York.

September 26, 1970: Canadian singer Anne Murray hits number 8 on the
Billboard chart with her song, "Snowbird."

September 26, 2003: Dalton McGuinty makes another promise to the people
of Ontario:

"We'll tackle the doctor shortage..." (Ontario Liberal Party
        press release)

The release went on to state that "According to the government's own
numbers, Niagara Region is short at least 76 family doctors...."
Yet, after four years of a Dalton McGuinty government, the doctor
shortage in Niagara Region has grown by 18 - to 94 - according to the
government's own numbers.
Dalton McGuinty's promise to tackle the doctor shortage...it's one more
promise that he was quick to make, but failed to keep.
