WHITBY, ON, Oct. 28 /CNW Telbec/ - OmniGlobe Networks, Inc. is pleased to
announce that it is now delivering affordable, accessible and reliable high
speed Internet services to the community and local businesses of the Township
of Brock. The company was chosen by the Regional Municipality of Durham
through a competitive process to deliver a cost-effective solution that would
enhance broadband infrastructure and services in the un-served areas of the
Township. The project is part of a province-wide $10 million Ontario
government initiative and has been made possible through funding provided by
the Rural Connections - Ontario Municipal Broadband Partnership Program of the
Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA).
Located to the east of the City of Toronto, the Regional Municipality of
Durham submitted an application for provincial funding in response to the
needs of its residents and in line with its strategic objective of building
and supporting a strong and diverse economic base.
"We are very excited to work with the Regional Municipality of Durham and
the Township of Brock on this project," commented Jason Neale, OmniGlobe
Networks' CEO. "The introduction of broadband access will create new and
exciting opportunities for the local residents and businesses, as they now
have access to similar services to those readily available in urban areas."
OmniGlobe Networks, which is already working with several other
communities in rural Ontario to reduce infrastructure gaps in the region, has
worked closely with the Region to design, install and build a new wireless
network. Its new service is delivered by OmniGlobe Broadband, the company's
broadband division, headquartered in Stratford, Ontario. The service is
designed to support both residential and commercial users and allows
traditional Internet applications such as web browsing and e-mail, together
with advanced Internet applications such as Voice over IP (VoIP).
The company will be hosting a Broadband Information session between 7 pm
and 9 pm at the Cannington Community Centre on Thursday November 6th, 2008.
