TORONTO, June 23 /CNW/ - The Ontario Energy Board (the Board) will post
on its website its Variance Explanation report on a quarterly basis rather
than monthly, beginning August 2008. This was first anounced in the April 2008
Variance Explanation report.
The Variance Explanation report on the Regulated Price Plan analyzes the
factors that have contributed to the difference between the forecast
electricity prices that RPP consumers currently pay and the actual cost to
supply those consumers. The appendix includes values for the various factors
dating back to the introduction of the RPP.
The "Final RPP Variance Settlement Factor" will continue to be updated on
the OEB website on or around the 15th of each month. A consumer who leaves the
RPP will either pay or receive a "final RPP variance settlement amount". This
amount reflects the consumer's share of any accumulated variance between the
actual price paid to generators and the forecast price paid by price plan
The Ontario Energy Board regulates the province's electricity and natural
gas sectors in the public interest. It envisions a viable and efficient energy
sector with informed consumers, and works towards this vision through
regulatory processes that are effective, fair and transparent.
