TORONTO, April 16 /CNW/ - Today the Ontario Energy Board (the Board)
issued a Rate Order to reflect its Decision on 2009 electricity distribution
rates for Toronto Hydro-Electric System Limited (Toronto Hydro). The new rates
are effective May 1, 2009.
As a result of this Decision and Rate Order, the delivery portion of the
bill associated with the cost to distribute electricity will increase by
approximately 1.7% or $0.72 for Toronto Hydro residential customers using
1,000 kWh per month.
In its Decision, the Board:
- Authorized the implementation of electricity distribution rates that
were approved on May 15, 2008, which have been adjusted to reflect
updated 2009 Cost of Capital parameters,
- Reduced the requested level of debt costs by about $800,000 or 0.2%
due to the timing of a new debt issue,
- Approved new rate rider credits for the 12-month period starting
May 1, 2009 that will result in a customer credit of about $0.83 per
month for a typical residential customer.
