TORONTO, Aug. 22 /CNW/ - Today the Ontario Energy Board (the Board)
issued a Rate Order for a Decision on a 2008 electricity distribution rate
application for Norfolk Power Distribution Inc. (Norfolk).
As a result of this Decision, Norfolk's distribution rates will increase
by 4%. The new distribution rates take effect July 1, 2008 but will be
implemented September 1, 2008.
Norfolk's distribution costs make up approximately 40% of the total costs
to provide electricity to consumers. As a result of this Decision and
May 1, 2008 changes to the regulated price of electricity and the amount of
electricity consumers can consume at the lower threshold price under the
Regulated Price Plan, the total monthly bill for a residential consumer using
1,000 kWh per month will increase by approximately 4.8%.
A table of the estimated bill impacts on residential consumers is
