NSSBA Elects Executive

    DARMOUTH, NS, June 4 /CNW/ - Members of the Nova Scotia School Boards
Association (NSSBA) elected their executive for the 2007-08 term during the
Association's 53rd annual general meeting, June 1st at the Pictou Lodge
    Elliott Payzant was re-elected for a second year as the Association's
president. Payzant, a retired educator, has been a school board member for
13 years and is vice chair of the South Shore Regional School Board.
    Joining Payzant on the executive are first vice president, George Kehoe,
board member with the Strait Regional School Board; second vice president,
Jenny White, board member with the Annapolis Valley Regional School Board;
treasurer, George MacDonald, board member, Cape Breton-Victoria Regional
School Board and past president Ron Marks, board member, Chignecto-Central
Regional School Board.
    Approximately 80 delegates attended the 53rd annual general meeting and
conference, hosted by the Chignecto-Central Regional School Board.

    The NSSBA is the provincial voice for school boards, representing
approximately 139,000 students.
