TORONTO, June 20 /CNW/ - At a time when home energy costs are rising, along comes the Now House with a promise of an annual home energy bill of zero. Now House is turning a 60-year-old wartime bungalow in Toronto into a near zero energy home, one that will produce almost as much energy as it uses and reduce emissions by 5.4 tonnes. With an estimated million wartime houses branding every community across Canada, Now House plans to apply their retrofit formula to one house, then a community of houses then a million wartime homes across Canada. Now House is one of 12 winning teams from across Canada in the CMHC EQuilibrium Demonstration House initiative. It received funding from CMHC and sponsorship from RBC Royal Bank. Now House Open House Saturday, June 21st, 2008 1 pm to 4 pm 12 Topham Road, Toronto
