Notice to Public: Set Date Application in the matter of Sarkis Sarkissian

    MONTREAL, Oct. 2 /CNW/ - The Investment Dealers Association of Canada
(IDA) announced today that a hearing will be held before a Hearing Panel
appointed pursuant to By-law 20, in respect of matters for which Sarkis
Sarkissian may be disciplined. At all material times, Mr. Sarkissian was a
mutual funds registered representative at the Montréal branch of iForum
Securities Inc., a former IDA Member firm.
    The purpose of the hearing is to allow the parties to present to the
Hearing Panel a set date application for the disciplinary hearing and a
schedule of the deadlines leading up to the hearing.

    The nature of the misconduct that will be the subject of the disciplinary
hearing is summarized as follows:

    -   Between September 2002 and July 2003, Mr. Sarkissian failed to know
        the essential facts related to five of his clients;

    -   Between May 2002 and November 2004, Mr. Sarkissian conducted
        transactions not permitted under the approval granted by the IDA;

    -   Between November 2002 and December 2003, Mr. Sarkissian failed to use
        due diligence when accepting instructions given by an agent;

    -   Between November 2002 and February 2003 and in February 2004, Mr.
        Sarkissian was involved in strategies which were detrimental to some
        of his clients;

    -   Between 2003 and 2004, Mr. Sarkissian facilitated the sale of shares
        which were not mutual fund securities and were not recorded in the

    -   In November 2005, Mr. Sarkissian was responsible for client accounts
        with a federal trust company where clients held securities other than
        mutual fund securities, which securities were not recorded in the
        books; and

    -   Between 2001 and 2006, Mr. Sarkissian failed to provide and update
        the information required by the IDA.

    Mr. Sarkissian has not been employed with an IDA Member firm since August
10, 2006.
    The date of the disciplinary hearing will be set by the Hearing Panel at
2:00 p.m. on October 22, 2007, at 1 Place Ville-Marie, Suite 2802, Montréal,
Québec. The hearing is open to the public except as may be required for the
protection of confidential matters. Copies of the decision of the Hearing
Panel will be made available.
