Notice to Public: Expedited review hearing in the matter of Gerald Danny Stefaniuk

    VANCOUVER, March 14 /CNW/ - The Investment Dealers Association of Canada
(IDA) announced today that a hearing will be held before a Hearing Panel
appointed pursuant to By-law 20 to review an Order made after an expedited
hearing which was held on March 4, 2008 without notice to the Respondent,
Gerald Danny Stefaniuk, until then an approved person at the Vancouver branch
of, First Canada Capital Partners Inc., a Member firm.
    After the expedited hearing a previously appointed Hearing Panel made an
Order pursuant to By-law 20.45 suspending Mr. Stefaniuk's approval for
registration in any capacity indefinitely. The Panel also ordered that Mr.
Stefaniuk immediately cease dealing with the public.
    Pursuant to Association By-law 20.48 the Hearing Panel presiding over the
review hearing may affirm the Order; quash the Order; vary the Order; or make
any decision that could have been made by the previously appointed Hearing
    The hearing is scheduled to commence at 10:00 a.m. on March 20, 2008 at
Reportex Agencies, Cathedral Place, 1010 - 925 West Georgia Street, Vancouver,
BC. The hearing is open to the public except as may be required for the
protection of confidential matters. Copies of the decision of the Hearing
Panel will be made available.

    The IDA is the national self-regulatory organization of the securities
industry. The IDA's mission is to protect investors, foster market integrity
and enhance the efficiency and competitiveness of the Canadian capital
markets. The IDA enforces rules and regulations regarding the sales, business
and financial practices of its Member firms and their approved persons.
Investigating complaints and disciplining Members and approved persons is part
of the IDA's regulatory role. It is IDA policy to ensure that where relevant,
referrals to the appropriate policing authority are made.
