Notice to public: Disciplinary hearing in the matter of Ron Aloni

    VANCOUVER, Jan. 18 /CNW/ - The Investment Dealers Association of Canada
(IDA) announced today that a hearing will be held before a Hearing Panel
appointed pursuant to By-law 20 in respect of matters for which Ron Aloni, at
all material times a Registered Representative at the Vancouver head office of
Raymond James Ltd., may be disciplined. Mr. Aloni is currently a Registered
Representative at the Vancouver branch of Leede Financial Markets Inc., a
member firm.
    The hearing relates to allegations that between April 1, 2002 and June
17, 2003, Mr. Aloni acted contrary to Association By-law 29.1, by facilitating
purchases of shares of two private companies in the RRSP accounts of as many
as 35 clients without making any reasonable inquiry to determine whether:

    (i) the shares were eligible for distribution by the seller or for
           purchase by his client;
    (ii)   the shares were eligible to be held inside an RRSP;
    (iii) the shares were a legitimate investment when he knew, or ought to
           have known, that no reasonable due diligence was performed with
           respect to the shares;
    (iv) the purchase of the shares was in the best interests of and
           suitable for his client; and/or
    (v) all of the circumstances surrounding the purchase of shares were
           legitimate in circumstances which a reasonably diligent RR would
           have determined to be suspicious or deserving of further inquiry.

    The hearing is scheduled to commence at 10:00 am on March 6, 2008 and
continue on March 7, 2008 at Reportex Agencies, Cathedral Place, 1010 - 925
West Georgia Street, Vancouver, BC. The hearing is open to the public except
as may be required for the protection of confidential matters. Copies of the
decision of the Hearing Panel will be made available.
