Notice to public: Disciplinary hearing in the matter of Chak Ng

    TORONTO, April 20 /CNW/ - The Investment Dealers Association of Canada
(IDA) announced today that a disciplinary hearing will be held before a
Hearing Panel appointed pursuant to By-law 20 in respect of matters for which
Mr. Chak Ng may be disciplined. Mr. Ng was at all material times an Approved
Person with the Toronto office of HSBC Securities (Canada) Inc.
    The disciplinary hearing in this matter relates to allegations that
during the period from October to November 2004, Mr. Ng engaged in business
conduct unbecoming contrary to IDA By-law 29.1 in that he accepted trade
orders for the stock of Pender International Inc. (Pender) for various client
accounts, and in so doing, facilitated the manipulation of the stock. He is
also alleged, during the same time period, to have failed to use due diligence
to learn and remain informed of the essential facts relative to his various
clients who traded in the stock of Pender, and to have accepted trading
instructions from a person not authorized to do so, contrary to Regulation
1300.1(a) and 200.1(i)(3), respectively.
    Mr. Ng is currently employed with Research Capital Corporation, a Member
firm of the IDA.
    The hearing is scheduled to commence at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 11,
2007 at 390 Bay Street, 3rd floor, Room A, Toronto, Ontario. The hearing is
open to the public except as may be required for the protection of
confidential matters. Copies of the decision of the Hearing Panel will be made
