North American Carsharing Organizations to meet in Montreal - Mr. Smet, Brussels' Minister of Transportation, and Mr. Ries, the French Senator of Bas-Rhin, will be Communauto's guests of honour

    MONTREAL, Oct. 3 /CNW Telbec/ - The first meeting between North American
carsharing organizations held in Quebec starts off today in Montreal. The
event, which runs until October 5, is organized by Communauto, in partnership
with the Agence Métropolitaine de Transport, the real estate group SITQ and
the MUTA-Autovision Forum. Executives from Philadelphia (PhillyCarShare),
Ottawa (Vrtucar), Toronto (AutoShare), Kitchener (Grand River CarShare),
Chicago (I-GO), Calgary (CATCO), San Francisco (City CarShare) and Vancouver
(Co-operative Auto Network) will meet in order to discuss various issues
affecting the carsharing industry, including the establishment of an ethics
code to legitimize the urban-minded, social and environmental spirit of
    Communauto has also invited renowned personalities: Mr. Ronald Ries, the
French Senator of Bas-Rhin, former Mayor of Strasbourg and promoter of the
French law on carsharing, Mr. Pascal Smet, Minister of Mobility and Public
Works in the Brussels-Capital region and Mr. Peter Muheim, president of
Mobility CarSharing (Switzerland), the largest carsharing organization in

conference during which Mr. Ries and Mr. Smet will meet stakeholders in the
fields of transportation and the environment.
